Today the White House will hold a Minority Health Blogger TownHall to discuss how the Administration is working to improve the health of the minority communities, as well as how they plan to achieve health equity for all Americans.

Minorities are more likely to be uninsured and therefore stand to benefit most from provisions in the Affordable Care Act to make insurance coverage more affordable and accessible to all. However, in order to ensure that reform lives up to its promise, it is important that education and outreach efforts target under-served populations and those who experience health disparities due to language barriers, low literacy, race, color, disability or other factors. I am most interested in hearing the steps that the Administration is taking to ensure that states target difficult-to-reach populations in their education efforts.

During the question and answer session, I will have an opportunity to pose this and any questions you may have. As a result, feel free to leave any question you may have in the comments below or submit them via Twitter to my attention (@MsLatina and/or @StilettoChat). If you submit a question via Twitter, please make sure you use the #MinorityHealth hashtag.

You are a social media maven.

To show your “in-the-know” status on your blog, you list every single possible way to sync up with you  – via Facebook, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn, Flickr, Picasa, Pinterest, PodOMatic, YouTube and more.  Don’t forget, you’re ALSO keeping up with your amazing photo sharing blogs  (yes, we saw your “plank” shots) and other personal blogs/social media accounts.  That’s alot of social maintenance!

If you find yourself struggling for time and straddling social media channels, it might be time to evaluate your bandwidth…for your sake and your readers.

Consistent blogging habits can give you more time to plan out your posts and develop them accordingly. Consider using social media organizing tools, like HootSuite, to help you broadcast your message across a variety of different platforms. This new-found focus will make it easier for you to connect with your audience.

Clearing away some of the “noise” on your site will also give your reader the chance to hone-in on what really drives you.  You don’t need to have the most tricked out blog on the block.

Maintaining a simple design, with a clean navigation, will help you site stand out!
